A number of Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to comment on reports from the Daily Mirror this week concerning Gaetano Berardi’s Elland Road future.
The Mirror reports that Berardi’s contract with the Whites expires this summer. It is suggested that the club are yet to begin talks with the defender despite agreeing fresh terms with several key players this season.

But the Daily Mirror reports that Leeds would like Berardi to stay and are open to discussing a new deal. However, they are prepared to let the 31-year-old make his own decision on his future.
Should Berardi want to extend his stay beyond this season, he will reportedly be offered a new contract. But Leeds are seemingly willing to let him leave if he decides that the time is right to move on.

And it appears that a number of Leeds fans are disappointed that the club are open to offering Berardi a new contract. He has been a cult-hero during his time with the Whites, but he has also made a number of costly mistakes.
His red card in last season’s play-off semi-final second-leg was one of the key reasons – among many on that bizarre night – why Leeds missed out on making it to Wembley. And he was recently sent off for an eighth time before the international break.
The latest red card was rescinded – as most expected it to be – but he still made an error in the build-up to the incident that resulted in the incredibly controversial sending off.
And while some have suggested that keeping Berardi for a short period is fair enough, plenty do not feel that he can be relied upon and have questioned Leeds’s stance.
Here is what some of the Whites supporters make of the reports…
