Leeds fans react on Twitter to Liam Cooper display vs Southampton

A handful of Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to praise Liam Cooper for one of the better performances in the Whites’ defeat to Southampton on Saturday.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side produced arguably one of their worst displays of his tenure as they lost 1-0 at St Mary’s.

They were second-best throughout. And they barely managed to lay a glove on their opponents, with no shots on target from the visitors.

Understandably, a lot of fans on social media have vented their frustration. There are serious concerns about what this season may lead to.

And very few players have received any sort of credit for their performances against the Saints.

Jamie Shackleton was arguably the best of the lot. But there was also some praise for Cooper at various points.

The captain was surely Leeds’ best centre-back during the contest. He dealt with the aerial threat of Armando Broja relatively well, particularly during the first-half.

He won five aerial duels, while he also made four interceptions (Whoscored).

Obviously, it was not a display that left supporters raving about anyone. In fact, many have hit out at Cooper. There are doubts amongst some regarding whether he is good enough for this fight Leeds are now facing.
