A number of Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to laud Lewis Bate after the midfielder’s display for the under-21s in their Papa John’s Trophy clash with Salford City on Tuesday.
Mark Jackson’s men have missed out on qualifying for the knockout stages of the competition after an amazing game against the League Two side.

Leeds had taken the lead through Max Dean. And they equalised from Sam Greenwood after going 2-1 down.
Unfortunately, Salford then scored the crucial goals either side of the break to secure a 5-3 victory that dashed Leeds’ hopes of extending their run in the competition.
In truth, the Whites were incredibly poor defensively at times. They made a number of mistakes.

But going forward, they were outstanding. And it was Bate – who came on at the interval – who briefly handed them a lifeline during the second-half with an incredible solo run.
He won possession just outside the Leeds box and managed to sprint almost the entire length of the pitch. And he finished the opportunity with a delicious dink over the goalkeeper for his first goal since joining the club.
It was an outstanding piece of brilliance from Bate. And the goal further fuelled the notion that the 19-year-old is destined for a first-team chance sooner or later.

Plenty of supporters have taken to Twitter to laud Bate. And many have implored Marcelo Bielsa to promote him in the near future.
Leeds have had issues in central midfield this season. And some clearly think that Bate deserves an opportunity after another moment of magic…
