A number of Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to suggest that Kiko Casilla may have produced his finest performance for the Whites yet after the goalkeeper’s display in the 2-0 win away at Barnsley.
Eddie Nketiah took many of the headlines after coming off the bench and breaking the deadlock in the final six minutes at Oakwell. But the Spaniard was arguably the main reason that the deadlock was still there to be broken.
Casilla produced some stunning saves to deny the Tykes. He was there to clear up when Barnsley managed to get round Leeds’s defence and through on goal, but he also made an outstanding save in the second-half to deny the home side a stunning goal from distance.
The 32-year-old has come in for a lot of criticism during his time at Elland Road. But a lot of his doubters have been silenced by his form at the start of this season.
Casilla has only conceded three league goals in seven games. The defence has been superb for much of the campaign, but the former Real Madrid man has also stepped up.
His distribution and shot-stopping have always been strengths. But he looks to be a lot more dominant when coming for crosses, and his decision-making appears to have improved dramatically in recent months.
And plenty of supporters suggested that they would put his Barnsley performance down as his best since joining Leeds in January. They feel that he is now proving his class, and vindicating the club’s decision to sign him earlier this year.
Here is how some of the supporters reacted to Casilla’s performance…

His best game since joining in my estimation.

Definitely his best game for Leeds today since signing.

thought kiko today was superb, 1st game of the season he looked a little bit shaky on crosses and coming of his line to much, but since then he’s been solid, he’s no starting to show he’s one the best GK in the league for me now #lufc
