A number of Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Joe Gelhardt’s latest performance as the club’s under-23s continued their impressive run of form on Sunday.

Gelhardt had actually been left out of the starting lineup last week. The summer signing was one of those unlucky to miss out with a number of first-team players dropping down for minutes with Mark Jackson’s side.

But he returned against Crystal Palace at Thorp Arch. And he certainly seemed to make up for lost time with an inspired performance.

Leeds picked up a 4-1 victory. And it was Gelhardt who got two of the Whites’ goals.

The first came from a penalty right at the end of the first-half. Meanwhile, the second was a real moment of brilliance from the 18-year-old.

Gelhardt collected the ball 10 yards outside the penalty area. He proceeded to then drive into the box and avoid a couple of challenges before finding the bottom corner with a superb effort.

Leeds fans are becoming used to seeing Gelhardt steal the show when he does feature for the under-23s. And many are now insisting that a first-team debut cannot be far away for the teenager.

He certainly seemed to be the standout in another impressive under-23 display from Jackson’s men.
