A number of Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to laud Jamie Shackleton’s display during the Whites’ 1-0 win against West Brom – and express their disappointment that he sustained an injury in the victory.
With Adam Forshaw back on the sidelines, Shackleton kept his place for the Baggies’ visit to Elland Road. And he vindicated Marcelo Bielsa’s decision with an outstanding performance.

Leeds dominated the first-half. And Shackleton proved to be a key man. The 19-year-old never seemed to stop running up and down the pitch. He was tenacious defensively, and showed glimpses of his quality as he tried to get Leeds into the final third.
The academy graduate proved to be the perfect link between Kalvin Phillips and the likes of Mateusz Klich, Helder Costa and Jack Harrison. And it was a real blow when he did not reemerge for the second-half.

Bielsa suggested, in comments reported by Leeds Live, that he was injured, but insisted that he did not know how serious the issue was.
With West Brom really coming into the game after the break, many Leeds fans supporters felt that Shackleton’s injury really hurt the team. Tyler Roberts struggled before being taken off in the latter stages, and there is no question that the Baggies were the better side in the second-half.
The Elland Road faithful are now praying that Shackleton’s injury is not serious and he will be available for this weekend’s trip to Millwall. His first-half display was a real shining light on what proved to be a brilliant evening for Leeds, who have returned to the top of the Championship.
