A number of Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to comment on a 22-second video showing Illan Meslier making a costly error for France’s under-21s on Monday.
Meslier was named in the side that took on the Faroe Islands in a qualifier for the 2023 European Championships.

Unfortunately, it proved to be a hugely disappointing occasion for the French. They ultimately drew 1-1.
France created more than enough chances to go and win the contest comfortably. However, while leading 1-0 during the second-half, they were punished for not taking their opportunities.
Meslier came well out of his goal to deal with the ball played into the French half. And it appeared that he had a simple task finding a teammate with a pass.

However, the Leeds man underhit the ball. And that allowed the striker to slide an effort into the back of the empty net from around 35 yards.
Obviously, it was a terrible mistake from Meslier. And there has been a somewhat mixed reaction amongst Leeds fans.
The 21-year-old is crucial to Marcelo Bielsa’s side. And one of the reasons why he is so highly rated is because of how good he is with his feet.

With that, mistakes will happen. But one thing Bielsa is never going to ask him to do is to change his style.
Plenty have leapt to his defence. And they have insisted that they would much rather see that happen while he is away with France’s youngsters than when he is playing for Leeds.
