Leeds United fans got their first glimpse of Ian Poveda on Monday as the winger played 45 minutes for the under-23s against Sheffield Wednesday.
Carlos Corberan’s men twice came from behind to draw 2-2 with the Owls at Hillsborough. Despite the four goals, it was arguably a contest of little quality.

But it was a notable fixture for the Elland Road faithful. Poveda and Jean-Kevin Augustin made their first appearances for Leeds following their January moves.
There were also outings for Gaetano Berardi and Jamie Shackleton, who have both struggled with injury at times this season.

Like the latter pair, Poveda came on at half-time. And he arguably looked bright in the draw. He got a chance to shine on both flanks, and there were definitely glimpses of his quality.
He looked confident on the ball and seemed to have much quicker feet than a lot of the players on the pitch.
Poveda also showed plenty of desire when it came to tracking back and attempting to win the ball back.
It was certainly an encouraging first appearance for the former Manchester City man. And plenty of fans on social media are clearly excited about the impact he could make for the first-team.
Understandably, most are not getting carried away after what was an underwhelming game. But they are optimistic that the club have uncovered a potential gem.
Here is how some of the fans reacted to Poveda’s first appearance for the Whites…
