Leeds fans react on Twitter to Helder Costa’s performance against Preston

A number of Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to criticise Helder Costa after the winger’s performance against Preston North End on Tuesday night.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side currently remain in the Championship’s top two. But they only managed to take a share of the points from their trip to Deepdale after Eddie Nketiah headed home an equaliser in the 87th minute.

Leeds had created a number of potential chances during the game. But it was a familiar story for the Whites, as they failed to properly test Declan Rudd.

It was a difficult night for the visitors. They perhaps dominated the play. However, Leeds often lost their composure in the final third. Crosses often fell to no-one, and it was rare that an attempt on goal hit the target.

And much of the criticism is being directed at Costa. The Portuguese was extremely underwhelming in the weekend win over Birmingham. And it appears that the fans were not happy with his last performance either.

He actually looked bright when running with the ball. However, he seemed to confuse himself at times as he attempted to get past the full-back. And he did not manage to ask enough questions of the centre-backs with his passes into the box.

Costa’s form is proving to be a real concern. With Pablo Hernandez missing, Leeds need the Wolves loanee to step up. But it is probably fair to say that there have only been glimpses of the player that Costa can be so far.
