A number of Leeds United fans have lauded Gjanni Alioski’s performance against Birmingham City on Saturday, with plenty suggesting that he was the best player on the pitch in the 1-0 win.
Leeds returned to the top two in the Championship on a day that the club celebrated their 100th birthday. It was Kalvin Phillips who scored the decisive goal during the second-half as he slammed home a strike past Lee Camp.
It was not a vintage performance from Marcelo Bielsa’s men. But having squandered leads after dominant displays at home, Leeds will feel that they proved an important point by getting the victory.
The likes of Kiko Casilla, Ben White and Stuart Dallas deserved plaudits for their displays. But perhaps the most impressive performance came from Alioski.
The North Macedonia international did not stop running all game. There was some criticism for the way that the 27-year-old did not take any of the chances that he had – including one from close range where he lifted the ball high into the stand behind the goal.
But it looked to be a performance that encapsulated Alioski’s spell at Leeds. Whoscored.com shows that he completed four dribbles and made three successful challenges. He got stuck in on a day when the result was the most important thing.
And following the game, plenty of supporters have lauded the wide-man, with one suggesting that it may have been one of his best performances for the Whites.
Here is what some of the fans made of Alioski’s performance…
