Leeds United fans are experiencing a horrible case of deja vu after the club confirmed on their official website that Liam Cooper and Jamie Shackleton are going to be sidelined for a number of weeks.

The pair started Tuesday’s clash with West Brom at Elland Road. However, Cooper came off during the first-half after pulling up while defending a corner. Meanwhile, Shackleton did not emerge for the second-half after a superb display in the first 45 minutes.

Leeds have confirmed on their official website that the youngster will miss four weeks due to a hamstring injury, while Cooper is out for six weeks due to a groin problem.

The news has understandably been met with a lot of frustration from the Leeds supporters on social media. Cooper has been excellent alongside Ben White this term, and the Whites do not have a large group of centre-backs.

Some want Pascal Struijk promoted to the first-team after his superb form for the under-23s. But plenty are angry because it looks more than likely that cover for Gaetano Berardi will largely come from those not primarily considered centre-backs.

And there is a lot of disappointment regarding Shackleton’s injury. He was superb on Tuesday, and many felt that his absence cost the team as the Baggies became dominant after the break.

And of course, there is a lot of frustration after last season’s problems. Leeds now have four key men on the sidelines with Adam Forshaw and Pablo Hernandez already out.

It has angered some fans that lessons have not been learned with the squad already stretched. And plenty fear that history is now going to repeat itself throughout the campaign.

Here is what some of the supporters made of the announcement concerning Shackleton and Cooper…
