Leeds United fans would have been forgiven for feeling extremely concerned after Stuart Dallas was taken off with an injury during their frustrating draw with Luton Town in midweek.
Dallas has been exceptional this season. And it was, of course, the Northern Irishman who bagged the Whites’ equaliser at Elland Road earlier in the evening.
Many may have been expecting the recently-inspired Gjanni Alioski to replace Dallas for the trip to Blackburn on Saturday.

But with Helder Costa also sidelined, Marcelo Bielsa decided to hand Barry Douglas his first start since January at Ewood Park, with Alioski playing further up the line.
And Douglas unquestionably vindicated Bielsa’s faith. The 30-year-old was exceptional as Leeds picked up a vital 3-1 victory against Tony Mowbray’s side.
After a frenetic start for Leeds’s backline, Douglas grew into the contest. He was composed on the ball and linked up well with the likes of Liam Cooper and Kalvin Phillips.
The former Wolves man also looked a real threat going forward. He was often seen offering an option in the final third.

Whoscored.com shows that he made two key passes – only Jack Harrison managed more – while no player made more successful challenges than the Scot.
‘Best game in a Leeds shirt’
It is surely fair to say that Douglas has not lived up to expectation since moving from Molineux. He was outstanding during his time at Wolves, and Leeds fans had high hopes.
Unfortunately, his form last season was mixed. And he has struggled to break into the team this term.
Injuries have certainly played their part. And he has not been helped by Dallas proving a revelation over the course of the campaign.
But Douglas showed exactly how good he can be on Saturday. Many insisted that his display was his best since arriving at Leeds.
And while many would have previously been keeping everything crossed for Dallas to make a return in time for Thursday’s clash with Stoke City, Douglas’s performance at Blackburn has seemingly taken a lot of the pressure off.
‘Unbelievable’
Here is how some of the Leeds supporters reacted to Douglas’s performance…
