Leeds United fielded an incredibly strong Under-23 side on Sunday afternoon as Mark Jackson’s side took to the Thorp Arch pitch to face Norwich City in Premier League 2 – and Leeds fans have raved about Raphinha.

First-team stars Kiko Casilla, Leif Davis, Pascal Struijk, Pablo Hernandez, Tyler Roberts, Raphinha and Ian Poveda all started the match in order to get some much-needed minutes – after either missing out on Friday or only playing a short time.

Unsurprisingly, it helped Leeds gain all three points against the Canaries. The first goal was a moment of brilliant from Hernandez, who chipped the ball over the defence for Roberts to cross. Poveda was there to lash the ball home.

But it was £18million deadline-day signing Raphinha who made it two, with Roberts getting another assist. The Brazilian was sent through on goal and after a dummy in which he could have found Poveda – he tucked the ball under the goalkeeper.

The 23-year-old made his debut against Wolves as a substitute, but looked much more comfortable during his cameo role against Aston Villa. Many will still remember his glorious cross field pass that eventually saw Hernandez shoot over.

Now, Sunday’s goal will have Leeds supporters even more excited at his potential going forward. Indeed, many were delighted to see the former Rennes and Sporting Lisbon ace get his name on the score sheet.
