Leeds fans react on Twitter as Patrick Bamford nets award

Fans may still be unable to attend games, but Leeds United supporters have still taken little time to make their presence felt in the Premier League as Patrick Bamford’s early season form was recognised this week.

Bamford started the campaign with six goals in his first six appearances. It is a remarkable return from the 27-year-old, who many doubted could make an impact in the top flight.

In fairness to his doubters, you could understand why there may have been concerns. Bamford scored 16 goals last season. But he did seem to miss a number of big chances at various stages throughout the campaign.

However, the Englishman – who earns Β£35,000-a-week, according to Spotrac – looks to have taken his game to another level this season.

He scored against Liverpool and Fulham, before nodding in a late winner against Sheffield United. But the highlight of his campaign so far came in the second-half at Aston Villa.

Bamford scored a stunning hat-trick to end the Villans’ flawless start to the season.

And those performances have seen the forward named the PFA Fans’ Premier League Player of the Month for September and October.

‘Well deserved’

Bamford certainly deserved the award. But the vote also helps highlight the significance of Leeds returning to the top flight.

As noted by the club’s official website, Whites players won the award four times in the Championship last season. And it appears that Premier League rivals are going to have to do something special to win the award this term if Leeds fans have the opportunity to vote for one of their own.

Here is how some of the Leeds fans reacted to Bamford’s accolade…
