Leeds United have reportedly joined a whole host of European clubs including Borussia Dortmund and Fiorentina in the race to sign highly-rated Dinamo Zagreb midfielder Lovro Majer – and Leeds supporters have reacted on Twitter.
The Whites tried to sign an attacking midfielder in the summer, with a deal for Michael Cuisance failing at the final stages – after he failed a medical. Todd Cantwell, Louie Sibley, Rodrigo De Paul and plenty of others were linked with Leeds.
Now, Italian outlet CalcioMercato state Majer is the latest to be considered by Victor Orta. Majer, 22, has already broken into Croatia’s senior side after captaining his country’s under-21 side – clocking up 14 appearances and scoring four goals.
Majer is an attacking midfielder that provides both goals and assists, but is just as effective in his own half. Technically gifted, he is excellent with the ball at his feet and feeding other players with pinpoint passes.
In 47 senior appearances for Zagreb, Majer has had a hand in 16 goals – scoring six and creating 10. Leeds are interested and the player is keen on leaving his current side – but Dortmund, Sevilla, Fiorentina and Valencia are also interested.
Leeds supporters reacted on Twitter to the reported news that they are in the race to complete a deal for Majer and many believe he would be a good addition to Marcelo Bielsa’s side – having recognised his name from Football Manager.
Sportske Novosti claim the left-footed star could cost £5.5million.
