Tom Pearce has posted on Instagram after finally making his Wigan Athletic league debut on Saturday afternoon following his summer move from Leeds United – in what was a 1-0 win for the Latics over Marcelo Bielsa’s side at Elland Road.
Pearce, 21, came through the ranks at Elland Road and clocked up 10 senior appearances for the Whites – even scoring for Leeds under Paul Heckingbottom. But he has failed to live up to the initial hype.
Indeed, the England Under-21 international struggled on loan at Scunthorpe and has since moved to Wigan. Injury has prevented the left-back from playing much this season, but he finally made his debut in the FA Cup against Leicester City.
The Thorp Arch product lasted 84 minutes for Paul Cook’s side as Leeds dominated but struggled to put any chances away, while a deflected corner found the net for Wigan. Pearce posted on Instagram after the match.
Pearce had the chance to give Wigan a 2-0 lead as the Latics broke from a Leeds corner. Pearce travelled almost the length of the pitch with the ball before an excellent recovery from Stuart Dallas saw him stop Pearce just as he was pulling the trigger.
Leeds fans reacted on Twitter to Pearce’s Instagram post, with many Whites supporters criticising their former defender for his post at the expense of his old club. One fan reckons Pearce “got a raw deal” from Bielsa.
Well done Tom, truth be told Bielsa gave you a raw deal.

Clearly not good enough for us , rolling around on the floor , and then galloping like a gazelle , disgraceful.
But on another note we just weren’t good enough to beat a poor time wasting Wigan side
