Samu Saiz has endured a difficult spell at Spanish side Getafe since joining the La Liga club on loan from Leeds United in the January transfer window – and Leeds fans have reacted to his latest snub.
The 28-year-old complained of being homesick at Leeds, which saw Marcelo Bielsa allow the playmaker to return to his home country. A loan-to-buy deal with Getafe was secured.
The left-footed star has managed just nine appearances for Getafe since joining on loan from Leeds. The Mirror claims Leeds will bring in a transfer fee of £5.8million for Saiz, after receiving a loan fee of £500,000.
But Saiz has failed to make a single appearance for Getafe since February 9. Indeed, he has sat on the bench for the other fixtures, before failing to make the entire matchday squad on Sunday during a 0-0 draw with Valencia.
It adds weight to recent reports which suggest that Getafe are unwilling to spend the £5.8million required to land Saiz on a permanent basis. It may mean the tricky Spaniard will return to Elland Road this summer.
Leeds fans took to Twitter to react to the news that Saiz had not even made the bench for Getafe on Sunday. Fans are worried that his transfer value is likely to reduce.
It’s not good news for us either. He’ll hav to drop down a league and go on loan elsewhere. Forget getting 6m for him.😐

You’ll be surprised, If we get Premier League football you watch him come “Crawling back” like nothing happened. You heard it here first.

Samu’s missus is the only one benefiting from this move. Terrible for him and terrible for us, on a number of levels. 🙈 #LUFC
