Sam Dalby scored an excellent hat-trick for Watford’s reserve side as they drew 3-3 with German outfit RedBull Leipzig in a pre-season friendly – and Leeds United fans have reacted on Twitter.

Dalby, 19, made the surprise move from Leeds to Watford this summer after impressing in Carlos Corberan’s Under-23 side. However, he found himself in the shadow of Ryan Edmondson at times.

The lofty striker joined Leeds from Leyton Orient in January 2018, after 18 appearances for the London-based side. He immediately went on loan to Morecambe, but managed just two matches.

The move to Watford, then, came as somewhat of a surprise to many, as he penned a two-year deal with Javi Gracia’s side. In what was a reserve-team friendly, Dalby scored three times for his new side in just his second game.

Leeds do have plenty of options up front and it would have been hard for Dalby to break into the senior side. The likes of Kemar Roofe, Patrick Bamford and Edmondson were above him, while Jack Harrison can also play up front.

Nevertheless, Leeds fans reacted on Twitter to the news that Dalby had scored a hat-trick for the Hornets, and the majority have now questioned the sale of the target man this summer.
