Leeds fans react as Salford City sign Robbie Gotts on loan

Salford City have completed the loan signing of Leeds United midfielder Robbie Gotts after the youngster starred during a temporary stay at Lincoln City during the first half of the season – and Leeds fans have reacted on Twitter.

Gotts, 21, joined Lincoln in the summer after failing to break into the Leeds senior side on a regular basis. He had managed just three appearances under Marcelo Bielsa, who publicly declared that Gotts deserved more game time.

The midfielder, who can also play on the right side of the defence or even on the wing – much like Jamie Shackleton – joined League One side Lincoln and clocked up 12 appearances in all competitions following his loan move.

He scored his first professional goal in his last match for the third-tier outfit, a 4-0 win over AFC Wimbledon in the EFL Trophy – placing a diving header into the back of the net. However, it was his last outing for Lincoln.

Salford, of course, are owned by Manchester United’s class of ’92 – with Gary Neville, Phil Neville, David Beckham, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs and Nicky Butt all owning a stake in the fourth-tier side. Richie Wellens is the manager.

Leeds fans reacted on Twitter to the news that Salford had agreed a loan move for the midfielder – just days after Gotts had scored for Lincoln, and many cannot understand the decision.

Some feel he could have an impact on the senior side, while others felt as though he was doing well at Lincoln.
