Leeds fans react as Ryan Edmondson reportedly set to join Aberdeen

Aberdeen are reportedly closing in on the signing of Leeds United striker Ryan Edmondson this summer, as Derek McInnes’ looks to solve his striker crisis ahead of Saturday’s opener against Rangers – and Leeds fans have reacted.

Edmondson, 19, has failed to build on his two early appearances back in 2018 for the first team at Elland Road – playing more for England’s Under-20 side where he has scored once in three appearances for the Young Lions.

Since Marcelo Bielsa arrived at Elland Road in the summer of 2018 to replace Paul Heckingbottom, Edmondson has failed to break into the senior side – instead scoring goal after goal for the club’s Under-23 side.

There is little explanation in the public domain as to why Edmondson has not been promoted into the first team – despite Bielsa being renowned for his faith in youth, bringing Jamie Shackleton and many others through.

Now, the Daily Record claim Leeds are willing to sanction the loan exit of Edmondson with Aberdeen leading the race for the target man. Sam Cosgrove and Curtis Main have both been ruled out of Saturday’s game with Rangers.

Leeds supporters reacted to the reported news that Edmondson is about to join Aberdeen and many believe a move to Pittodrie would be a stunning addition for the Whites.
