Leeds fans react as Ryan Edmondson receives England U19 call-up

Ryan Edmondson has played twice for Leeds.

Leeds United starlet Ryan Edmondson has been called up to represent England U19s. After Arsenal’s Folarin Balogun dropped out, Paul Simpson decided to pick Edmondson.

The 18-year-old joins the squad for two fixtures during the international break. England U19s have two qualifying matches for the European Championships coming up. Edmondson will hope to feature as the young Lions host Green on September 5 and travel to Germany on September 9.

Edmondson is an exciting young player and Leeds fans have high hopes for his future. The teenager has only played twice for the Whites, racking up a combined total of 35 minutes. Both of those outings came under Marcelo Bielsa last year.

There have been quite a few calls for Edmondson to receive a promotion to the first-team. But with Patrick Bamford and Eddie Nketiah ahead of him, Bielsa is unlikely to give Edmondson lots of game time unless there is an injury.

Nevertheless, some Leeds fans used Edmondson’s call-up to share their thoughts on his status at Leeds. Here are some of the best tweets.
