Diego Llorente has been included in Spain’s latest squad to take on Greece, Georgia and Kosovo in their first three 2022 World Cup qualifiers – but Rodrigo has missed out, and Leeds fans have responded to the attacker’s omission on Twitter.

Spain take on Greece on March 25 at home, before travelling to Georgia and then back home to host Kosovo on March 31. Three games in the space of six days has seen ex-Barcelona boss Luis Enrique call up a squad of 24 players.

Premier League players including Manchester United’s David De Gea, Manchester City duo Eric Garcia and Ferran Torres and Liverpool’s Thiago have been handed call-ups – as has Brighton goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, as the country’s third-choice.

Llorente has also been included, having put two groin injuries and a hamstring problem behind him during his early spell at Leeds. The ex-Real Sociedad man helped Leeds keep a clean sheet against Chelsea on Saturday, starring at the back.

Rodrigo, 30, has been a regular with Spain of late – clocking up 10 of his 25 Spain caps over the course of the past two years. But he has struggled to remain fit consistently at Leeds, only recently returning from a groin injury which saw him miss six games.

He is yet to start since that injury, but came on for Patrick Bamford during the first half against Chelsea – only to be subbed again. Rodrigo could start against Fulham on Friday, but Leeds fans have reacted on Twitter to his Spanish omission.
