Rio Ferdinand has told his ‘FIVE’ Youtube channel that Leeds United will struggle to attract big-name players to Elland Road while Marcelo Bielsa is manager – and supporters have responded to his claims.
Leeds spent the best part of £100million in the summer, bringing in fresh new faces including Spain internationals Rodrigo Moreno and Diego Llorente, as well as Germany defender Robin Koch. Raphinha has also starred.
All four players are respected on the European stage, especially Rodrigo who has scored goals for Valencia and Benfica in continental competition, as well as earning 25 caps for Spain on occasion.
But Ferdinand, an ex-Leeds defender, thinks the Whites will struggle to attract the top players to Elland Road while Bielsa is in charge – because he feels they will not buy into the Argentine’s enormous intensity and demands.
“Can you get ready-made superstars to run like that with that intensity, every day in training and every game for the season?” Ferdinand said. “Yes, you can buy hungry young players, but the big ask is to get a superstar to buy into it.”
The Daily Mail claim Leeds are interested in World Cup winner Julian Draxler, who is out of contract in the summer at Mauricio Pochettino’s PSG. Real Madrid’s Lucas Vazquez has also been discussed by Leeds.
Leeds supporters have reacted on Twitter to reports that the Whites may struggle to attract the cream of the crop to Elland Road while Bielsa is in charge. Many agree, pointing out that Leeds need to sign players who are “hungry”.
Then don't buy 'superstars'! Buy players who want to be at the club and fight everyday to be in that team.

Perhaps that’s why Bielsa has never taken on Real Madrid, Barcelona, Milan, Bayern etc. I’m sure one of the giants has enquired.

It's pretty sad someone on 200k a week isn't willing to put in effort and run a little bit more to play attractive football. This is why footballers are hated.

That statement tells you all you need to know about so called superstar players!

He has a point but Messi was calling on the board at Barcelona to appoint him so…

Does occasionally talk sense does Rio. You just know big egos would not tolerate the intensity like the current squad has https://t.co/nhxoJhyNJw
