Sky Sports have reported that Derby are open to selling some of their young stars this month in order to balance the books amid some financial issues under chairman Mel Morris – and Leeds fans have discussed Louie Sibley.
The report claims that some of Derby’s senior players have not been given their wages since the end of November, though the club are confident that those wages will be paid in the next few days. But the issues do not stop there.
Sibley – among some of Derby’s other young players including Ireland international Jason Knight, for example – could be sold. Victor Orta confirmed Leeds were keen in the summer, during an interview with the Evening Post.

The report says Leeds even made an enquiry for the 19-year-old in the summer, but the player is under contract until the summer of 2024. It comes after Sibley enjoyed an excellent breakthrough season, scoring five goals in 17.
He also laid on two assists but this time around, he is yet to score in his 17 games. It also remains to be seen how much Leeds would have to pay to sign the England Under-19 international, who has been in and out of Derby’s side.
Leeds fans reacted to the news that Derby would have to sell the likes of Sibley this month in order to bring in some much-needed cash to Pride Park – and many want to see Sibley move to Yorkshire before the end of the window.
According to Transfermarkt, Sibley is represented by Wasserman – the same agency who represent Adam Forshaw.
