Leeds fans react as Rangers reportedly closing in on Kemar Roofe signing

Steven Gerrard is reportedly set to lure Kemar Roofe to Rangers from Belgian side Anderlecht this summer with a deal said to be ‘imminent’ – and Leeds United supporters have reacted on Twitter to the news.

Roofe, 27, is said to be in advanced talks over a move to Ibrox after a difficult spell at Anderlecht since his move from Elland Road in the summer of 2019. Injuries have prevented Roofe from gaining any kind of momentum.

The Birmingham-born attacker was sold by Leeds last summer after he had entered the final 12 months of his contract, with Vincent Kompany’s side landing the versatile ace for a fee in the region of £5.5million (HLN).

Under Bielsa, he was a favourite of the Argentine manager’s. When fit, Roofe played – though calf and knee injuries ultimately saw him miss 13 Championship matches during 2018-19. He played in 32 of the other 33 under Bielsa.

He has since played 16 times for Anderlecht as injuries prevented him from adding to that tally. Despite those injuries, he still managed to have a hand in 10 goals – scoring seven and creating three more.

Now, though, HLN claim Rangers are ready to bring him back to the United Kingdom. It is believed that a deal is at an advanced stage with Anderlecht already looking to secure his replacement in Aarhus striker Mustapha Bundu.

With a deal labelled ‘imminent’ by HLN, Leeds fans have reacted on Twitter to the news that Rangers are about to land Roofe and to the potential excitement of Gers supporters – many Whites fans think he will shine in Scotland.
