Leeds fans react as Premier League fixtures announced

Leeds United begin their return to life in the Premier League with a trip to the champions, as they travel to Anfield to take on Liverpool on September 12 – and Whites fans have responded on Twitter to the announcement.

Leeds finally regained a place in the Premier League after finishing at the top of the Championship table. They joined West Brom and Fulham in gaining promotion, ending a long, 16-year wait for top-flight football at Elland Road.

For Liverpool, it sees them take on a newly-promoted side for the second time in two seasons – after they beat Norwich City at Anfield 4-1 in August 2019. Now, they welcome Leeds to Anfield.

Leeds have played against Liverpool in recent years, losing 2-0 at Anfield in the Carabao Cup in 2016 – with Divock Origi and Ben Woodburn scoring. The Whites also take on Fulham (H) and Sheffield United (A) in September.

Stand-out fixtures also include a trip to Old Trafford on December 19 to take on Manchester United, while Leeds welcome Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side to Elland Road on April 24. Chelsea away takes place on December 5.

The Whites could also benefit from what looks like a decent run-in, with the last three fixtures coming in the form of Burnley, Southampton and West Brom. Many Whites fans are delighted to see Liverpool first.

However, some have pointed towards April as a tricky month – as Leeds take on Liverpool and both Manchester clubs.
