Leeds United have delighted fans with the announcement of a new contract for popular midfielder Pablo Hernandez.

On the club’s official website, Hernandez’s new contract extension was confirmed. The veteran Spaniard has signed a two-year extension, keeping him at Elland Road until summer 2022.

This means that the 34-year-old could well end his playing days as a Leeds player. He has become a fan favourite at Leeds and has taken his game to the next level with some of his performances.

Last year, he won the Leeds United Player of the Year accolade for the second successive season. He is only the second player in the history of the club to achieve this.

That came after he netted 12 goals and provided 12 assists under Marcelo Bielsa. This season, Hernandez has been out with an injury. But he is now back fit and raring to go as Leeds push for promotion.

Leeds fans flocked to Twitter to express their delight at this news. Here are some of the best tweets about Hernandez’s new deal with the Whites.
