Leeds fans react as Marcelo Bielsa talks Charlie Cresswell, before West Ham
Marcelo Bielsa has hinted that Charlie Cresswell could start against West Ham on Saturday afternoon – and Leeds fans have responded on Twitter.
Cresswell, 19, was handed just his second senior appearance for the Whites on Tuesday night – as Leeds beat Fulham on penalties in the Carabao Cup.
The two sides drew 0-0, with Cresswell being handed the man-of-the-match accolade for an excellent performance in the middle of the defence.
Of course, Leeds will be without Robin Koch, Diego Llorente and Pascal Struijk on Saturday. Luke Ayling is a doubt for the clash at Elland Road.
Speaking ahead of the game, Bielsa was asked if Cresswell is Premier League ready. He says Cresswell’s efforts at Fulham was convincing.
But does he throw Cresswell in at the deep end? The other option, of course, is to partner captain Liam Cooper with England ace Kalvin Phillips.
What are Leeds fans saying about Bielsa comments on Cresswell?
If Bielsa was to throw Cresswell into Premier League football, West Ham would arguably be one of the hardest for most. But it suits Cresswell.
The Hammers are on fire. Winning in Europe, beating Manchester United in the League Cup, and eight points from five Premier League games so far.
Their identity is there for all to see. Defensively solid, counter attacking, and a handful of flair players behind superstar striker Michail Antonio.
Last season, Leeds struggled with the presence of Antonio – along with Tomas Soucek, Craig Dawson and more. Cresswell can combat that.
He is a leader, he is physically strong, and superb in the air. West Ham is tough, but might just be perfect for Cresswell – Leeds fans had their say.
