Marcelo Bielsa will have delighted Leeds United fans in Friday’s press conference by giving a much more positive update on his future at Elland Road – and Leeds fans are in heaven.
The 63-year-old Argentine manager is currently halfway through his two-year contract at Elland Road, believed to be worth a whopping £77,000 a week, according to the Daily Mirror.
But there has been speculation surrounding Bielsa. Given that he is one of the biggest managers in the world, following spells with Argentina and Athletic Bilbao, there are claims that he could leave Leeds without promotion.
Leeds currently sit in third place in the Championship but have missed out on the top two. They face Ipswich Town, before entering the play-offs for the final Premier League promotion slot.
But Bielsa stated – as quoted by Leeds Live – that he is willing to remain Leeds boss even if the club fail to gain promotion: “I have never said if we don’t get promoted I won’t carry on my work here.”
Leeds fans reacted to Bielsa’s update in his press conference, with many delighted as it sounds as though the former Lazio, Marseille and Lille manager is to remain with the club – even if it is in the Championship next season.

Bielsa is the best thing to happen at this club for a generation. I’d give him keys to the city if it would make him stay

Hopefully he will stay & finish what he has started. A great achievement in his first year in English football. Everything is in place just more quality players going forward ?
