Leeds fans react as Marcelo Bielsa delivers update on Adam Forshaw

Marcelo Bielsa has been quoted by Leeds Live as saying that Adam Forshaw is taking longer than expected to recover from a knee injury, which has seen him miss five Championship matches.

The 27-year-old suffered the problem before Leeds drew 1-1 against Middlesbrough. While the likes of Stuart Dallas, Jack Clarke and Gaetano Berardi return to training, Forshaw has been left in the treatment room.

The midfielder has been somewhat indifferent in terms of form this season. However, Bielsa will be well aware that he needs his whole squad available with 11 games to play in the promotion run-in.

But he issued a disappointing update on £4.5million signing Forshaw (BBC Sport), stating the ex-Middlesbrough and Everton midfielder is still some way from returning to action but is closing in on a return to training.

“Making slow progress, slower than we thought,” Bielsa said. “We think he is close to his problem being over and we will rely on him soon. His recovery lasts longer than what he thought. We thought it would be faster, but the fact it’s taking longer is a basis for him to come back in better condition.”

Bielsa is known not to rush his players back. They all have to feature for the Under-23 side before they can return to the senior side unless it is a very minor injury. Jack Clarke will play for the reserves next Monday.

Leeds fans reacted on Twitter to Bielsa’s update on Forshaw, but the majority reacted surprisingly to the news with the majority claiming that the midfielder is not required.
