Marcelo Bielsa has told his pre-Sheffield United press conference – as per Leeds Live – that Leeds United will be without Pablo Hernandez for the next two weeks as the veteran Spaniard continues to overcome a groin strain.
Hernandez, 35, picked up the muscle problem during the warm-up against fellow newly-promoted side Fulham last Saturday. There had been hopes that the former Valencia man would be fit to face Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Sunday.
However, Bielsa has confirmed that Hernandez will be sidelined for the next two weeks with the issue. New signing Rodrigo replaced Hernandez in the attacking midfield role against Fulham, but Bielsa stated that Tyler Roberts could play.
“Pablo still has two weeks of recovery before he can return. The team will largely be the same, only possible alternative will be Roberts instead of Rodrigo,” Bielsa confirmed, as quoted by Leeds Live.

Losing Hernandez is certainly a blow to Leeds, who are working hard to bring in another midfielder. Goal claim Leeds remain interested in Udinese’s £37m-rated Rodrigo De Paul, while The Telegraph claim Leeds want Atalanta’s Ruslan Malinovskyi.
Other options include Wales international Roberts, though he was in and out of the side in the Championship and is certainly inexperienced in the Premier League. Adam Forshaw continues to remain sidelined, having suffered an injury setback.
Leeds fans discussed Hernandez’s absence ahead of Sunday’s trip across Yorkshire to take on Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United – and many Whites supporters believe a signing needs to be made to add cover in the middle of the park.
