Marcelo Bielsa has confirmed in his pre-Derby County press conference – as quoted by the YEP – that Leeds United will be missing Adam Forshaw for Saturday’s hotly-anticipated clash between the two sides – and Leeds fans are gutted.
The two sides do battle for the first time since Derby came from 2-0 down on aggregate to win 4-3 over the two legs and book their place in the Championship play-off final at Wembley last season. It was a heartbreaking end to stunning Leeds campaign.
The game boasts extra spice after the Spygate incident that swept the footballing world. It saw Frank Lampard become a hate figure at Elland Road. Leeds fans concocted ‘stop crying Frank Lampard’ to the tune of Oasis’ Don’t Look Back In Anger.
Bielsa is yet to have a fully fit squad available to him since he took over at the start of last season and that once again is true for Saturday’s clash, as he confirmed Forshaw will be missing. The midfielder missed last week’s win over Barnsley.
Forshaw, 27, has starred alongside Mateusz Klich this season and was one of the first names on the team sheet during the first seven matches. However, he has picked up an injury. Jamie Shackleton replaced him last week.
Thorp Arch academy product Shackleton starred against Barnsley and he is expected to continue alongside Klich and despite the youngster’s good form, Leeds fans are gutted that Forshaw is missing for a second consecutive league game.
Standard “misses one game but back for next” then misses next and be out for a month. And repeat. Big miss he’s been excellent this season

Big miss. He’s done really well for s this year and really helped our tempo. We are suffering less turnover due to his re-positioning this season.

I think he been good too. Wins many balls and sets the tempo. A big loss

Shame. We were way too defensively open with Shack and Klich vs Barnsley
