Marcelo Bielsa has told his pre-Huddersfield Town press conference – as quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post – that January signings Jean-Kevin Augustin and Ian Poveda will miss Saturday’s clash, and Leeds fans have reacted on Twitter.
Both players were missing from Saturday’s 4-0 win over Hull City at the KCOM Stadium, with French striker Augustin struggling with a hamstring strain. Meanwhile, Poveda is yet to make his debut for the club since joining from Manchester City.
Augustin himself has only managed three substitute appearances for Leeds before suffering the injury, with Bielsa preferring to remain loyal to Patrick Bamford despite the ex-Chelsea striker failing to score in his last seven appearances.
Asked if either Augustin or Poveda – the latter of which has failed to reach the 18-man squad for the last six league games – would be included in the squad for the clash against Huddersfield, Bielsa stated that it would be the same squad that beat Hull.
“Augustin is not ready yet, ” Bielsa said, when asked if either Poveda or Augustin would be included in the squad to take on Danny Cowley’s side. “It is going to be the same group from the last match.”
Bamford is likely to start up front again, even though Tyler Roberts scored a brace after coming off the bench in the last match. Three points could see Leeds overtake West Brom, if the Baggies fail to beat Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium.
Leeds fans reacted on Twitter to the news that both Augustin and Poveda will be missing from the squad to take on Huddersfield, and many supporters have bemoaned the club’s January activity.
