Leeds fans react as Marcelo Bielsa claims he could play Stuart Dallas in midfield

Marcelo Bielsa has claimed in his pre-Millwall press conference – as quoted by the Evening Post – that he could move Stuart Dallas into central midfield with Jamie Shackleton injured – and Leeds fans are bewildered on Twitter.

Shackleton, 19, suffered a muscle injury on Tuesday night against West Brom. He was replaced by Tyler Roberts, who then himself was substituted by Bielsa, bringing on Luke Ayling as his replacement. Adam Forshaw is also injured.

Roberts is the obvious candidate to play in the middle of the park alongside Matuesz Klich, but Bielsa threw a curveball out there by claiming he could play Dallas – who has been playing at right-back – into the middle of the park.

Dallas, 28, has been filling in at right-back with Ayling injured. He is naturally a left winger, but has also played right wing and left-back under Bielsa. Central midfield is altogether a new position for the ex-Brentford star.

“Probably we will play Ayling instead of Dallas and Dallas in place of Shackleton,” Bielsa said. It means Ayling, who has recovered from injury, will make his first start of 2019-20, and Dallas will partner Klich in the middle of the pitch.

Leeds fans reacted to the news that Bielsa has claimed Dallas could partner Poland international Klich in the middle against bitter rivals Millwall at The Den, and many have questioned whether Dallas is the right option to play in central midfield.
