Leeds United have reportedly been told they must splash out upto £20million on Manchester City winger Jack Harrison if they want to keep him permanently – and Leeds fans are gobsmacked on Twitter.

The Sun claim City have slapped a £20million price tag on the 22-year-old’s head, knowing that Leeds are ‘desperate’ to land the England youth international on a permanent basis.

The former New York City star – who played alongside Derby County manager Frank Lampard for the MLS side – has been an integral part of Marcelo Bielsa’s side this season, clocking up 42 appearances in all competitions.

But Harrison proved to have little impact in the final third, scoring only four goals. He did manage an excellent effort away at Millwall, as well as scoring a second in a 2-0 win over Derby.

Still in the early stages of his career, Bielsa is said to be a big fan of Harrison. The former Marseille and Athletic Bilbao manager is said to have worked tirelessly to bring the winger to Elland Road last summer on loan.

But Leeds fans reacted to the news that their club would have to splash out a reported £20million to sign Harrison, which would make him the second most expensive signing in their history, just behind Rio Ferdinand.

Many are stunned that Manchester City believe Harrison is worth so much, while others suggested the kind of fee that they would spend to land the winger permanently this summer.
