Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Brighton defender Ben White ahead of the January transfer window, but the Seagulls will charge a whopping £50million for his signature – and Leeds fans have responded on Twitter.
White, 23, has been a regular part of Brighton’s side under Graham Potter this season after returning to the Seagulls following a highly successful loan spell with Leeds United last term. The Whites gained promotion with White crucial throughout.
The central defender played every single one of Leeds’ 49 matches in all competitions during 2019-20. He formed a formidable partnership with Liam Cooper, and it saw Leeds try to sign him permanently. A £25million offer was rejected (Sky Sports).
He has since started all five Premier League matches for Brighton, starting on the right side of a back three in the first four games before being used as a holding midfielder by Potter on the weekend – during a 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace.
The Sun claims Liverpool could consider a move for White in January after Virgil van Dijk suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury against Everton. It leaves Liverpool light at the back, with just Joel Matip and Joe Gomez as recognised options.
That means Liverpool could consider a move for White after initially being linked earlier on in the summer, but for a whopping £50million. Leeds supporters have reacted on Twitter to the reports that White could join Liverpool for £50million.
Such a fee would make him Liverpool’s fourth most-expensive signing, after Naby Keita, Alisson and van Dijk.
