Leeds fans react as Kemar Roofe posts intriguing Tweet

Kemar Roofe has posted an intriguing Tweet as Leeds United reportedly look to land last season’s top scorer to a new deal with his current contract expiring soon – and Leeds fans have urged him to put pen to paper.

The 26-year-old shone for Leeds last season, scoring 15 goals in 34 league and cup outings. He did that despite being sidelined for two spells through injury, the last keeping him out for seven league games.

The Yorkshire Evening Post have claimed that Roofe, along with captain Liam Cooper and goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell are expected to be offered new contracts. Roofe’s may be of more importance, though.

That is because the former Oxford United attacker’s contract at Leeds expired in the summer of 2020. He has just 12 months remaining on his current deal, but he described scoring goals for Leeds as the “best feeling” on Twitter.

Leeds do have options up front, with Patrick Bamford rivalling Roofe for a place in the side as the club’s attacking spearhead. An impressive campaign with the Under-23’s could push Ryan Edmondson into the reckoning, too.

Leeds fans reacted to Roofe’s Tweet in desperate manner, urging the striker to sign a new deal that will keep him at Elland Road beyond next summer – even though the report claims Roofe wants as much as Bamford is earning.
