Leeds United have suffered a crushing injury blow losing their midfielder Kalvin Phillips for a sustained period of time – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter are devastated by the news on Tuesday evening.

The Whites confirmed on their official website that the 24-year-old has sustained a shoulder injury, which he picked up in yesterday’s 1-0 defeat at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

He will not require any surgery on the shoulder problem, but he’s going to be sidelined for up to six weeks.

Phillips’ absence for the next chunk of fixtures is going to be a major obstacle that Leeds need to overcome, as many consider him to be the best individual at the club and he’s a real talisman on the pitch.

The deep-lying central midfielder knits everything together for the Yorkshire giants and has become so effective under the guidance of manager Marcelo Bielsa.

His form has seen him involved in the last two England camps, where he’s earned his first three senior international caps for his country.

A selection of Leeds supporters on social media are gutted about the injury blow to Phillips and are worried about the kind of hole he’s going to leave in the side.

Whites captain Liam Cooper had to pull out of the Wolves match in the warm-up through injury, while summer addition Diego Llorente is also currently sidelined.
