Leeds fans react as Kalvin Phillips delivers big boost ahead of Arsenal clash

Kalvin Phillips has delivered a huge boost to Leeds United by confirming to teammate Leif Davis that he could be fit to take on Arsenal after the international break – and Leeds supporters have responded on Twitter.

Phillips, 24, has missed Leeds’ last three Premier League outings after suffering a shoulder injury in training. It has also seen the Thorp Arch product miss the November England fixtures, against Ireland, Iceland and Belgium.

Initially suffering the injury in October, it was believed that Phillips could be sidelined for six weeks and November 22’s clash against Arsenal at Elland Road might have some too soon. But it appears Phillips might now be fit.

That is after he told teammate Davis during a gaming session on Twitch – as per Leeds Live – that he is due to get an injection ahead of the Arsenal fixture and that could allow the four-time England to feature against the Gunners.

“It’s still sore mate, it’s been sore for ages. I’m meant to get an injection at the end of the international break,” Phillips responded, when asked by Davis. On his availability for Arsenal, he said: “Yeah. Hopefully, anyway.”

Leeds have since played Pascal Strujk in holding midfield, or Mateusz Klich instead of Phillips – but it is clear that in the defeats to Leicester and Crystal Palace, Leeds have missed their fan favourite.

Leeds supporters have responded on Twitter to the news that Phillips has confirmed he could be available to play for Leeds against Arsenal in 10 days’ time – and many are delighted. Others are worried about him taking an injection.
