Leeds fans react as Jose Mourinho reportedly eyes £45m-rated Ben White

Jose Mourinho reportedly wants to take Brighton defender and Leeds United favourite Ben White to Roma this summer as he continues to shine in the Premier League – and Leeds fans have reacted to the report on Twitter.

White, 23, burst onto the scene after Marcelo Bielsa chose to bring the unknown defender to Elland Road at the start of 2019-20. Fast forward 12 months, and White had played in all 49 Leeds games – helping Leeds gain promotion.

Failing to sign him permanently, White has since been a regular at Brighton – impressing in numerous positions, whether it be part of a two-man centre-back system, the right of a back three or in holding midfield.

Clearly, it has left a lasting impression on Mourinho. The Sun claim that Mourinho – who was sacked by Tottenham last month – wants to take £45million-rated White to AS Roma. Arsenal and Manchester United are also keen.

Leeds, meanwhile, are now well-stocked at centre-back after bringing in Diego Llorente and Robin Koch. The breakthrough of Pascal Struijk and the consistency of skipper Liam Cooper gives Bielsa’s four first-team options.

The need for White has lessened at Elland Road but if presented with the chance, many would still have him back. Leeds fans reacted on Twitter to the news that Mourinho wants to take White to Italy.
