Jamal Blackman has posted an update on Twitter as he steps up his recovery from a leg break that he suffered while on loan at Championship side Leeds United โ and Leeds fans reacted on Twitter.
The 25-year-old joined the Whites on a season-long loan from Chelsea after impressing the season before at Yorkshire neighbours Sheffield United. Leeds needed a goalkeeper after allowing Felix Wiedwald to leave.
Somewhat surprisingly, 6ft 5in colossus Blackman was only used as a back-up goalkeeper by Marcelo Bielsa. Instead, the Argentine boss placed his faith in Leeds academy product Bailey Peacock-Farrell.
It saw Blackman manage only two senior appearances for Leeds during the first half of his loan spell. Both came in the Carabao Cup, and instead Blackman played in the Under-23 side more often than not.
Blackman suffered the injury in an Under-23 clash against Blackburn, breaking his tibia. But he has stepped up his recovery since returning to Chelsea, posting an update on Twitter.
Blackman, who earns ยฃ8,000 a week at Chelsea according to Spotrac, is unlikely to break into Chelseaโs first team given that Kepa Arrizabalaga and Willy Caballero occupy the first two slots.
Leeds fans reacted to Blackmanโs Tweet by wishing their former goalkeeper all the best. Some supporters even suggested that they hope he returns to Elland Road in the future.
