Eunan O’Kane has told the Yorkshire Evening Post that Victor Orta told him via phone call that had no future at Leeds United in the summer of 2018 – and Leeds fans have reacted on Twitter to his comments.
O’Kane, 29, joined Leeds in the summer of 2016 and clocked up 58 appearances in all competitions before Bielsa’s arrival at Elland Road. The Ireland international was told to leave – as O’Kane says – and he joined Luton Town on loan.
But after four appearances in League One, the ex-Bournemouth star suffered a double leg break. O’Kane is still struggling to overcome the injury, which he suffered in September 2018 – and has since undergone a second operation, a bone graft.
O’Kane said that he has no future at Leeds and that he has never spoken to Marcelo Bielsa. He is also hoping to return in time for the January transfer window, in a bid to end his Leeds nightmare under Bielsa and find a new club.

“It was that summer and I got a call from Victor Orta,” O’Kane said. “He just told me straight out. ‘We brought in a new manager, he doesn’t see you as part of his plans. It is probably best you look to go on loan or move on to get some football.’
“I am fit [ahead of January]. I have been on bikes and things like that. I haven’t been lying around which helps. The aim is to be back on the grass in the next two to three weeks.”
O’Kane still has this season and next left on his current deal, meaning he would have to be sold for a fee – or Leeds would have to release the ex-Torquay midfielder on a free transfer in order to give him a better chance of finding a new side.
Leeds fans have reacted on Twitter to O’Kane’s comments, with the majority of supporters urging the club to offload him.
