Derby County striker Mason Bennett has sent a stark warning to Leeds United ahead of their play-off clash on Saturday, claiming his side were “fuming” at Spygate – and Leeds fans have reacted on Twitter.
Leeds and Derby have developed a fearsome rivalry this season after Marcelo Bielsa sent one of his coaches to Derby’s training ground to spy on a session, ahead of January’s fixture.
The result saw Leeds pick up a comfortable 2-0 win over the Rams, but Leeds were fined £200,000 for breaking EFL rules. Bielsa is said to have paid the fine himself.
Since then, fans have been at eachother’s throats on Twitter and now the two sides meet for the third time at Pride Park on Saturday evening. Bennett sent a warning to Leeds, stating Derby can beat anyone on their day.

“We were fuming about the whole (Spygate) situation with Leeds. The (Derby) fans have been singing, ‘We’re coming for you’ – I think that’s the message. That’s what we need to do,” Bennett told Derbyshire Live.
“In football, anyone can beat anyone on their day. We’re going into the play-offs in good form but we’ve got to stay focused and not get ahead of ourselves. It’s a big couple of games we’ve got and, hopefully, we can come out on top.”
Leeds beat Derby 4-1 in the second Championship fixture of the season, thanks to a brace from Kemar Roofe and goals from Mateusz Klich and Gjanni Alioski. Roofe and Jack Harrison netted in the 2-0 reverse fixture.
Leeds fans reacted to Bennett’s comments ahead of the play-off semi-final, with many Whites supporters believing that Bennett has embarrassed himself with his comments – and given a team talk to Leeds.
