Leeds fans react as Dan James scores on Manchester United debut

Daniel James came off the bench to score for Manchester United on his debut at Old Trafford as the Red Devils demolished Chelsea 4-0 – and Leeds United fans reacted on Twitter.

James, 21, joined Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side as one of three signings made by United, joining the club for a fee of £18million from Swansea City. Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire also joined, for a combined £135million.

With 15 minutes left and the scoreline at 3-0, Wales international James replaced Andreas Pereira and moments later he found himself on the score sheet in just his first competitive outing for United.

An counter attack from United saw Paul Pogba play in James, and although the winger dallied somewhat before getting his shot away – James found the back of the net, squeezing a ball past goalkeeper Kepa.

Celtic fans left short-changed by Sky Sports once again

United had scored goals through Marcus Rashford on two occasions, while Anthony Martial also got his name on the score sheet. It could have been very different for James, who nearly joined Leeds in January.

Indeed, Leeds Live have claimed that James had passed a medical at Elland Road after completing a £10million move – only for Swansea to stop answering the phone before the deadline.

Leeds fans remain bitter over failing to land James. They reacted on Twitter as the winger scored in United’s big win over Chelsea, with some applauding while others reminisce over what could have been.
