Leeds United failed to hold on to a two-goal lead against Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Under-23 side in Friday afternoon’s Premier League 2 clash despite going into the break 2-0 to the good – and fans are impressed with newbie Cody Drameh.

Drameh, 18, was one of a number of Under-23 signings made by Leeds this summer – along with the likes of Sam Greenwood, Joe Gelhardt, Dani van den Heuvel, Charlie Allen and now Dutch winger Crysencio Summerville.

While Greenwood – a £3million signing from Arsenal – and Gelhardt got the goals in the first half, it was Drameh that impressed at the back. Comfortable in possession, he made numerous crucial tackles to stop Wolves from winning.

Gelhardt opened the scoring with an excellent left-footed finish, cutting inside and lashing home an effort. Greenwood made it two with a very cute finish after starting a move, and getting on the end of a Niall Huggins cross.

Wolves came out of the blocks quickly in the second 45, though. Goals from Theo Corbeanu and Luke Cundle saw Wolves equalise, and the scoreline remained – largely thanks to the defensive work of Drameh. Huggins missed a sitter for Leeds.

Leeds fans discussed Drameh’s performance and while both young strikers Gelhardt and Greenwood will nab the healdines for scoring their first goals – Whites supporters have praised Drameh for his stunning performance in front of Marcelo Bielsa.
