Leeds fans react as club told they should consider Premier League star rated at a whopping £60m
Stan Collymore has told the Mirror that Leeds and three other Premier League clubs should consider Newcastle’s Allan Saint-Maximin. The Frenchman was excellent for the Toon on Sunday, Leeds fans have discussed Saint-Maximin on Twitter, after the suggestion from Collymore.
The 24-year-old joined Newcastle in the summer of 2019 from Lyon and has since been excellent for the Tyneside club. Clocking up 57 appearances despite injuries and absences, Saint-Maximin has had a hand in 19 goals – scoring seven and creating 12. One of those 12 came on Sunday.
Twisting and turning Declan Rice inside out, Saint-Maximin eventually got a cross into the box and Callum Wilson scored. Collymore was impressed with Saint-Maximin, who is rated at a huge £60million (Mirror). He suggested Leeds, West Ham, Everton and Villa should consider him.
“I like Allan Saint-Maximin – he has pace, skills and attitude. If I were in charge of recruitment of an upwardly mobile club such as West Ham, Everton, Leeds or Aston Villa, I’d take a punt on him,” ex-Premier League star Collymore told the Daily Mirror (17/8; page 55).
What do Leeds fans think about Saint-Maximin, amid Collymore claim?
Obviously, the uncapped Frenchman is likely to be out of the price range in which the quartet of clubs mentioned can reach. But Saint-Maximin is certainly a player to keep an eye on. It is certainly foreseeable for Saint-Maximin to outgrow Newcastle and want to leave St. James’ Park.
Leeds fans have reacted on Twitter to the comments made by Collymore and while many believe he is too expensive – they would love him.
