Leeds United are reportedly set to wave goodbye to defender Aapo Halme who is set for a move across Yorkshire to newly-promoted Barnsley this summer – and the majority of Leeds fans have questioned the decision.
Halme, 21, broke into the Leeds side last season and immediately impressed, using his height to his advantage and looking as though he had been playing senior football for his entire career.
However, he managed just five appearances – including a cameo in the 1-0 win over Sheffield United and a goal against QPR – before failing to make anymore. Towards the end of the season, he dropped down the rankings.
Pascal Struijk was preferred on the bench in the Championship play-offs. Now, Finnish website HS claim a move for Halme to Barnsley is close, with the Tykes selling Liam Lindsay to Stoke City.

A permanent deal for Halme comes as somewhat of a surprise, given that he is young and did break into the senior side last season. He had been linked previously with a loan to Barnsley, and has a contract at Leeds until 2022.
Leeds fans reacted to the news that Halme is set to leave the club for good, despite his impressive breakthrough, and their seems to be somewhat of a mixed reception. Some say he is not what Bielsa wanted, or is not good enough.
While others believe it is a mistake selling the Finnish giant, rather than simply loaning him to Barnsley.
