Leeds fans react as club reportedly open talks to sign top tier no.10, bargain price
Leeds United have reportedly opened talks to raid French side Metz and sign their no.10, Farid Boulaya. A four-time Algeria international, Boulaya was the attacking heartbeat of a Metz side that finished in an above-expectation 10th in 20-21. Leeds fans have discussed Boulaya on Twitter.
Boulaya, 28, was used in numerous positions. As an eight, on either flank or as a 10, the France-born midfielder was excellent. Missing just five of Metz’s 38 Ligue 1 matches, the magician had a hand in 14 goals. Scoring six, he also laid on eight assists as Metz defied pre-season expectations.
What are Leeds fans saying about Boulaya?
Football journalist Mohamed Toubache-Ter claims – as per GFFN – that Leeds are in talks to sign Boulaya. The report claims he can go for a bargain £4million, due to his contract situation. Boulaya is now in the final 12 months of his current deal despite his mercurial Metz form.
Leeds are not alone in the chase for Boulaya, who is keen to join a side in European competition – something Leeds do not offer. A big-name Spanish and Italian side are also keen. Leeds fans, though, are interested in Boulaya and many would be delighted to see his arrival at Elland Road this summer.
