Leeds United are reportedly rivalling five La Liga sides in pursuit of Elche left-back Juan Cruz this summer as Victor Orta looks to solve a slight issue becoming more apparent on the left side of the defence – and Whites fans have responded.

Stuart Dallas has established himself as first-choice at left-back under Marcelo Bielsa this season. But the Northern Ireland international is naturally a winger, and has been used as a utility player by the Whites – playing in multiple positions.

Gjanni Alioski is in and out of the side, whether it is at left-back or on the wing – but again, he is naturally a winger. Barry Douglas has failed to show why the Whites chose to lure him to Elland Road from Wolves, during his limited outings this term.

Spanish newspaper AS has claimed that Leeds are interested in 27-year-old Cruz, who has starred for second-tier Elche this season in their bid for promotion. In 27 appearances, Cruz has laid on an impressive eight assists from the left flank.

However, Orta and Leeds are not alone in their pursuit of Cruz. Indeed, La Liga quintet Real Betis, Osasuna, Mallorca, Getafe and Real Valladolid are all interested in Cruz – with the player’s release clause currently standing at £3.5million.

Leeds supporters have reacted on Twitter to the news that the club are interested in signing Cruz this summer, and many believe he would be a good signing for the Championship leaders.
