Leeds fans react as club announce new contracts for five youngsters

A number of Leeds United supporters have expressed their delight on Twitter after the club confirmed on their official website that five young players have signed new contracts at Elland Road.

The Whites have announced on their official website that Pascal Struijk, Bryce Hosannah and Kun Temenuzhkov have signed new deals, while Stuart McKinstry and Charlie Cresswell have penned professional contracts.

It is a fantastic statement from the Championship leaders. The academy continues to have a huge impact on the first-team picture at Leeds. Kalvin Phillips is arguably the most important player in Marcelo Bielsa’s current side having come through the ranks at Thorp Arch.

And it would not be a surprise to see the quintet make their way into the first-team in the future. Temenuzhkov made his senior debut last term. Meanwhile, Hosannah was included in Leeds’s pre-season squad that travelled to Australia, and Struijk has been on the first-team bench in the Championship this season.

McKinstry only arrived in the summer. But he has already caught the eye with the under-23s. He even outshone Jack Clarke in the recent 6-0 win against Watford.

And the fans are extremely pleased that the club appear to be making sure that some of their brightest youngsters are tied down for the future. Plenty are predicting first-team opportunities for the quintet, and many are delighted that the Whites are being so proactive.

Here is what some of the fans made of the announcement concerning the five players…
